Reginald Hager: Trouble in Paradise
Saturday, November 22 - Friday, December 20, 2014
Opening reception: Saturday, November 22 , from 12:00 to 17:00
I proceed from impulse and a sense of opportunity. The works emerge out of what the moment seems
to demand. The heart is hunting, you become entangled with the feeling tone of a painting in its fluid state,
its rhythms and frequencies. It is as if the world is a shaman and you are her ritual.
--Reg Hager
Gallery & More is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of paintings by Reginald Hager
These works, from the period 2006-2014, offer distinct yet related perceptions of the mineral/biological
world. Here are formal celebrations of botanical detail from the forests around Gothenburg, Sweden,
simulated spectra of Tenerife terra/flora and paintings embedded with data graphics of unintended
environmental effects from human interventions.
Some of the recent paintings explore the ephemeral, transparent nature in organic form while others
suggest the repeating, sequential nature of phenomena.
Reginald Hager was born in Hollywood CA. 1943. He studied at LaJolla museum school, Cal Arts CA. US
and Instituto Allende Mexico. Exhibitions in museums include the California Hawaii biennial, San Diego
Museum of Art and works at the Long Beach museum. CA. Gallery shows include “Recent Painting“Art
